The autumn season has renewed interest in shearling, a sturdy and insulating textile derived from sheepskin, as retailers roll out fresh designs tailored for home interiors. British Wool and the Campaign for Wool are capitalizing on the moment with campaigns that trace the fabric’s origins to nearly 10,000 years ago while positioning it as an eco-conscious option for warmth and texture.
Holloways of Ludlow has debuted its first furniture collection, Woolly, featuring a lounge chair, footstool, sofa, and children’s chair—all crafted in Denmark and wrapped in New Zealand sheepskin. The centerpiece, the lounge chair, showcases Sahara sheepskin in a deep, cocoa-toned finish, priced at £1,600. This expansion moves the retailer beyond apparel into home furnishings.
Bottega Veneta’s Shearling Cassette cushion (£1,530) integrates the brand’s iconic intrecciato pattern in a buttery shade. Audo Anderssen & Voll’s Brasilia sofa merges Scandinavian and Brazilian modernist aesthetics, pairing sleek contours with sheepskin upholstery, listed at roughly £6,019.
For compact decor, Loaf’s Shearer Big Cheese footstool, clad in New Zealand shearling, offers a plush, bear-like texture suitable for side tables, though liquids should be kept away. At £945, it stands as one of the more accessible larger items in the current shearling surge.

Shepherd of Sweden’s Shepherd Lina cushion (£100) and The Wool Company’s sheepskin hot water bottle (£72) provide functional choices. The hot water bottle uses full sheepskins instead of scraps, delivering superior insulation. Hyde & Hare’s shearling rug (£79), crafted from New Zealand sheepskins with tight curls, comes in neutral tones like Oatmeal for flexible use on floors or seating.
This revival in home decor shows a shift toward organic, long-lasting materials. Sheepskin outperforms synthetic fabrics by holding heat longer and softening over time, establishing itself as a practical investment. The latest products demonstrate its adaptability beyond classic applications, appearing in furniture, accessories, and daily-use items.
Consumers can choose between bold statements, such as the Brasilia sofa, or smaller, budget-conscious additions like Hyde & Hare’s rug. The material’s flexibility, whether in a striking lounge chair or a modest throw, ensures its place in autumnal home styling.
